Ok, here’s a quick pre view of Janine and Seth’s wedding that took place on Saturday at the lovely St Benet’s in Beccles and afterwards and the beautiful Elms Barn at Toft Monks…It was a fantastic day with all their friends and family around them to brighten up what was to turn out to be a rather wet and windy afternoon…but that never dampened their laughter!

A few images today (as I promised Janines mum cos she’s been dying to see them!) and the rest will be added once the bride and groom have seen them all…

My daughters friend popped round with Ruby Ellen…what a darling little princess she was, I just had to grab the camera…just had to!!

Just look at those eyes…she’s gonna break some hearts!!

We (meaning my photographer friend Nicki and I) had a spare day and decided to take the girls to Southwold for some photos and hot chocolate n chips…it was such a spring like day….awesome!!

Helen and William Bynum….authors

Helen studied human sciences (BSc) and the history of medicine (MSc & PhD) at University College London and the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, before lecturing in medical history at the University of Liverpool. Since then she has worked as a freelance writer, editor and lecturer based in Suffolk.

Helen is the author (Helen Power) of Tropical medicine in the 20th Century (1998), co-editor with William Bynum of the award winning reference book about dead doctors, all times, all places Dictionary of Medical Biography, 5 vols. (2007) a fantastic compendium about doctors, all times, all places . Together they also co-edited the OUP Biographies of Disease series, which will include the history of tuberculosis provisionally titled Spitting Blood: A history of tuberculosis (gory but sadly all too accurate) to be published later this year.

The highlight of 2011 was their Great Discoveries in Medicine (published by Thames and Hudson) which they edited with the help of some really talented authors around the world including the Nobel Prize winner Barry Marshall. The pictures are stunning too from medieval manuscripts to the latest cutting edge images of our bodies and the germs that invade them. They are talking at the Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival and the Cambridge Science Festival both of which take place in March.

Helen reviews regularly for JAMA and the BMJ.

Bill and Helen gave a series of lectures for Jon Baines Tours history of medicine cruises in the Black Sea (2009) and the Eastern Mediterranean (2010).

They also developed the short online course, History of Medicine for Oxford University Department for Continuing Education, which she tutors www.conted.ox.ac.uk

In their spare time, when they have any, they both love to spend quality time at their beautiful home and work in their gardens which look out over some wonderful scenery…It was a real joy spending the morning with them both!

I’m really looking forwards to seeing my images on both the cover of their books and on their website and possibly on posters too for the Literary Festival…exciting times for us both!!

Well..postman called and delivered a box, puzzled, I opened it and the smell was amazing…CAKEY!! Then I remembered my daughter saying something about her friend Millhouse was having a parcel delivered to our house each month and that we were to enjoy it…
No sooner said than done!!
Thank you Millhouse…you know us far too well!!

So I get one shot at this…I had to bribe him too…mercenary little sod!
We took our Maisie for a walk as I needed a photo of him with her to match the one I had taken the other day, a surprise prezzy (canvases for hubby’s xmas present) so off we go…local park and 10 mins later, that’s it he say’s…all done!
Waited all year…for 10 minutes?
Aren’t I the lucky one?!!

There’s nothing my daughter and I like more on a beautiful sunny day than to grab the camera, and the dog and head off someplace for a walk and maybe a bit of cake…!!

These day’s always seem to produce perfect pictures….why is that?

The one of Hannah with Maisie…is printed to canvas…. REAL BIG, I just loved it!!

She is my fave model, but I am biased!!

I worked with Kate at BMS…I really used to look forwards to our quality time in the classroom with the wonderful children we had… then she left, then I left and then….out of the blue I had an email asking if I was available to photograph her wedding…BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO horror of horrors….I was already booked!!!

You know what she did?

She changed the wedding date just so she could have me shoot her wedding…oh yes she did…talk about chuffed!! Squiddlydee excited I am, I can’t wait!!

Love it!!

Woke up to grey skies, wind and rain….not ideal weather for a lifestyle portrait shoot on the beach, but Ruth had said she wanted to go, whatever the weather!!

So off we trot, we being my photographer friend Nicki and I, brollies in the boot and waterproofs at the ready!! Southwold is a fabulous place to take photos, so many opportunities and the light is always beautiful, I just love the place…anyways…what a surprise we had, how lucky were we? For the hour that we had to shoot Ruth, the sun shone..whoop whoop!!
